Founded in Japan in 2014 and having become a household name in that market, the company set up in the US in 2017 and Europe in 2018. In Europe bitFlyer was granted a Payment Institution (PI) license and in the US it has a license from New York Department of Financial Services. It believes that regulation is fundamental to the future of the virtual currency industry and aims to set a high standard in that regard.
bitFlyer’s mission is to become the world’s leading blockchain company. It has its own private, proprietary blockchain, which is called miyabi.
